Fulton County Superior Court - Atlanta - Georgia

(effective May 6, 2009):

1.  Allows an Active Judge to serve on the Business Court.  This change is directly responsive to concerns about elected judges serving on the Business Court. Additionally, adding an Active Judge with a dedicated calendar for the Business Court, will help increase program efficiency without increasing our operating costs.  Like you, the Business Court has been adversely affected by the economy.

2.   Allows a transfer fee of $1000.00 to be assessed to all cases transferred to the Business Court by motion of one or more of the parties, payable on a pro rata basis by the movant(s).  However, no fee will be assessed if the case is transferred at the request of the originally assigned Judge.  Note, the Business Court will start collecting this fee on all cases transferred by motion filed on or after July 1, 2009.  The transfer fee will help to fund the approximate $38,0000 annual budget for the Business Court.
