404-335-2824: Fax Number 404-335-2812: Judicial Assistant Fulton Superior Court Judge Wendy L. Shoob, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia for 30 years and is in her 17th year on the Bench. She was appointed to the Fulton County Superior Court by Governor Zell Miller on March 4, 1996. In November, 1996, she was elected to a four-year term and was reelected in 2000, 2004 and 2008. Prior to her appointment to the Superior Court, Judge Shoob served on the State Court of Fulton County for four years. Before taking the bench, Judge Shoob was a partner in the law firm of Warner, Mayoue & Bates, specializing in family law. Judge Shoob began her legal career with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in 1978. She served as a trial attorney in the EEOC Litigation Centers in Denver and Los Angeles. She returned to Atlanta in 1979 to become an Assistant District Attorney in Fulton County. She prosecuted felony crimes until 1987 when she entered private practice. Judge Shoob received her B.A. degree with distinction from the University of Virginia in 1974, and her J.D. degree from Mercer University in 1977. Judge Shoob has served on the State Bar of Georgia Board of Governors, the Investigative Panel of the State Bar of Georgia Disciplinary Board, the Board of Directors of both the Atlanta Bar Association and the Atlanta Council of Younger Lawyers, and the Atlanta Bar Association Judicial Selection and Tenure Committee. She is a past President, Treasurer and Judicial Liaison of the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers and is currently a member of its Advisory Board. She is a member of the National Association of Women Judges, the Council of Superior Court Judges, the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, and she is a Fellow of the Lawyers Foundation of Georgia. She serves on the Bench and Bar Committee and served on the Committee on Sentencing of the Council of Superior Court Judges. She serves on the Executive Committee of the Fulton County Superior Court, has chaired its Business Court Committee, and has served as Chief Judge of the Family Division. She served on the Fulton County Child Abuse Protocol Task Force, and she served on the Fulton County Courthouse Security Commission. She also served on Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin’s Task Force on Child Prostitution. She is a member of the Evidence Study Committee of the State Bar of Georgia and the Charles Longstreet Weltner Family Law Inn of Court, and is a Master in the Bleckley Inn of Court. She is a member of the Junior League of Atlanta and Leadership Atlanta. Judge Shoob was a member of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Atlanta YMCA until 2004. She is a member of the Temple and the Board of Judge Shoob is the daughter of United States District Court Judge Marvin Shoob and fashion designer Janice Paradies Shoob. She is married to Walter Jospin, a partner in the law firm of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker, and they have two children. |
